Robert John Photography About Me

A professional photographer in the music industry since 1982, I started by shooting W.A.S.P., London, LA Guns and Hollywood Rose. When the latter became Guns N' Roses, Robert worked with them and became their exclusive photographer when the band was signed to Geffen Records.

My list of clients is a Who's Who of the rock n' roll scene that spans the 1980s, 1990s and today, including Guns N' Roses, Alice Cooper, Ozzy Osbourne, Elton John, Backstreet Boys, Rolling Stones, The Cult, Aerosmith, Jane's Addiction, Faith No More, Marilyn Manson, Motörhead, and Sepultura, as well as many models and actors in entertainment (eg. William Shatner, Power Rangers, Christina Applegate, Leah Cevoli, Susie Owens).

I try capturing the emotion of rock n' roll in my images and artwork. I developed my own techniques and style that uses light, shadows, grain and contrast.

My photography and artwork can be seen on numerous album covers and liners, and has graced the covers and pages of domestic and international magazines including Rolling Stone, Rip, Kerrang, Spin, AP, Revolver, HITS, Guitar World, Hamilton This Month, Guitarist, Hard Rock, Raw, Music Life, Hard Break, In Rock, Popgear, Suosikki, Grindhouse, Terrorizer, Metal Edge, Metal Hammer, and many more.

I have worked with many record labels including Geffen, Sony BMG, Universal, Warner Brothers, Interscope, Atlantic, Virgin, Island, Capitol, Columbia, RCA, Electra, EMI, SPV, Century Media, Metal Blade, etc.

My most recent video projects include video footage for Motörhead's Stage Fright DVD, live video footage for Sepultura, and promo videos for Class Of Zero, Murder Room, and Jack Dill and Ooze's Cootie Pool.

I authored one book entitled Guns N' Roses: The Photographic History, which chronicled the band from its punk Hollywood roots to its extravagant worldwide pinnacle. Robert's work has also appeared or received mention in other printed publications, and has also been featured on television in a BBC documentary based on my work with Guns N' Roses and "VH1 Behind The Music" that both still air to date.

In recent years, I have been concentrating on digital artwork, videography and he has seized opportunities outside of his expertise of entertainment. In 2001 I founded FusedArts with GNR illustrator Billy White and Rockin B Digital's Jeff Boerio. Together, we produce artistic, unique designs to promote any business venture, creative product or personal enterprise. Our services include photo retouching and digital manipulation; cover art, jackets and booklets for albums/CDs; publicity and promotional campaigns; endorsement campaigns; logo design and presentation graphics; music video services; web design services; plus much more.
